KCL announces umpire expense claim guidelines
Date: 2009-05-08
Teams who have to supply umpires must nominate people who are familiar with the laws of cricket and the rules of the KCL. Umpires should produce a report within 48 hours in case there are any incidents which need to be reported to the KCL Committee. In case there is one official umpire and the square leg umpire is provided by the batting team (or another third party), final decisions will always be taken by the main umpire (except for stumping or run-outs at the batting end or decisions regarding the height of the ball, unless the main umpire considers that the square leg umpire’s decision is clearly wrong). The main umpire may at any time require the square leg umpire to be changed.
Umpire’s costs:
Tokyo/Yokohama based umpires are to take local train to destination in Gunma or Ageo or YCAC and teams to collect umpires from station. Tokyo/Yokohama based umpires may take the shinkansen to Shizuoka for umpiring and vice-versa. If they choose to go by car, and the cost is less, then they shall receive the lower figure (in other words, an umpire can’t decide to drive from Tokyo to Shizuoka and claim the cost of a shinkansen ticket; he can only charge for highway tolls and petrol).
In case of doubt, umpires should check with the Committee before the match.
Warm Regards
Bobby Philips
On behalf of 2009 KCL Committee
